| Because you asked... "Do pets wait for us on the other side?" "Is "The Secret" for real?" "Why is gratitude so important?" "Why do we reincarnate?" "Is God a man or a woman?" "Does everyone have a Guardian Angel?" A lot of really wonderful questions are asked of me/Spirit. I definitely can't answer them all but with Spirit's help we try to offer at least some clarity. It occurred to me that many more would benefit from those inquiries if I had a place to share them or if you had a place to ask them. So from that idea this page was born. It does sound like your smells and sounds may be spiritually intended. Both are really common ways for spirits of loved ones (or even others in the spiritual realms we dont know, like guides or angels) to get our attention and/or show their presence and support. That you've had the smell experience for some time and even now associate it with spiritual support is, for me, the best evidence that it is. I say this because in our intuition or own sense of knowing, we have these answers. Often we question our beliefs or knowings because we're taught (in this world) to do so, but in our hearts we already know. If you feel that these things are spiritual in nature then I'd feel confident in that.
During times of struggle or challenge spiritual support/presence often increases and becomes more apparent. If you notice an increase in this activity when you're working thru something, that also supports the notion of spirit involvement.
We generally associate flower smells with nurturing female presences (not always but generally). So those sorts of sweet smells may indicate a female energy around you, perhaps a grandmother or mother who has passed on, or female who was like a mother. That spirit may not be someone you knew in life, such as an in-law. It might be a grandmother or even great-grandmother you never met but who watches over you (which is very common). You might ask your family members and/or spouse if they knew of anyone who wore a fragrance that smelled like frangipani or if they ever heard of anyone growing them. If I'm not mistaken there used to be a popular perfume made from plumeria, perhaps someone wore it.
A feeling of coolness across the skin is a very typical way of sensing spirit. Their energies absorb the heat in the environment and may feel to us like a cool breeze or even a cold spot in the room.
If you've ruled out all 'earthly' reasons, then you might accurately believe the sound to be a sign from spirit too.
If I were you I would ask myself what the messages mean.
The reasons we do things in this world often carry right over into the next, so just as we give flowers to show support and encouragement, so too do they (in the form of floral smells, for example). The sound you describe might be a message that "it's time" or "the time is now" or something along those lines. Of course you would have to relate it to your life and current situation. Perhaps you've been on the fence about doing something and someone is saying it's time to take action.
How to know exactly who is giving you the messages isn't always possible. The best way is to trust your instinct. You can also ask for a sign that will tell you. Saying, "I appreciate your presence and would like to know who is giving me this support, so please give me sign to show me," might bring you the answer. You could have fun with it and ask for to find a quarter if it's a relative or a dime if its someone else, and so on. If you will believe they'll do so, they will! Of course you can always seek out a spiritualist/psychic like myself for a reading but in all honesty that's no guarantee because we never know what information will come thru and you may not get the answer you want.

 Response: The short answer is yes; the longer answer is that there may be another (but still spirit originated) explanation.
Yes, spirit can manipulate their (and other) energies so as to make themselves apparent before us (as in the word apparition) or to manipulate something in our physical world. It happens all the time (as in the ways I've listed on this site as being common). But the level of manipulation that you're talking about requires a great condensing of energy and a lot of proficiency that most in spirit do not use/develop. To give a spiritual gift to you like you're describing (writing in a book) what they are more likely to do (simply because it is easier and more efficient) is to 'nudge' someone in this world to do what they would like done and then make sure it's somehow presented to you (without you knowing who or how or why). Or-- they may find something that already exists in our world (like letters already written in a book) and have you discover them at just the right moment. It may not be that they actually wrote them but the gift is the same because you are making the connection that they "did this" and, in a sense, he/she did, just indirectly.
I may not be making sense so let me give you a true example. I asked someone I know in spirit if he could write a specific phrase on my son's etch-a-sketch. He said he could but explained what I've mentioned above about the amount of energy required, etc. He said, "There's another way," but wouldn't say what that was. About a month later I went to the drug store and found myself overwhelmingly and inexplicably drawn to the gift section. I had no reason to go in that area but as if on auto-pilot I walked right up to a stack of flat red cases. I grabbed the top one, took it off the shelf, and saw it was an etch-a-sketch. On it someone (another customer I presume) had written the exact phrase I'd asked for. I knew instantly that this was his "other way" of getting the message to me. I'm 100% certain that he could have done it himself but this was a much more efficient and easier way, while still being a huge and amazing one-in-a-million+ gift either way. So could spirit write those letters? It is absolutely possible. Is it just as (or more) likely that it was a gift FROM spirit but originated by some earthly means? Yes.
I've come to learn that it matters less WHAT creates the wonder but how we accept it. If your thoughts were that it was a gift from spirit, then accept it as such! Just because something can be explained doesnt mean it wasn't a gift to begin with! 
Response: Assuming you've ruled out the so-called 'earthly' explanations-- others' colognes, candles in the room (even unlit), laundry products coming from your bedding/sleepwear/ etc., lotions/soaps/deodorant you may be wearing and so on, I would consider that someone in spirit wants to let you know they're around.
The question then is who? Ask yourself the following:
When I first smelled this cologne who (if anyone) did I think of in that initial moment? Did anyone at all come to mind straight away?
What cologne is it and who wore it? Think outside the obvious... It's not unusual for someone in spirit to show up to a third party so that they can pass the message on to someone else. So has the husband/son/companion/father of anyone you know recently passed who might be coming to you? If you can figure out what the name of the cologne is you might be able to ask people in your life if they knew someone who wore it.
If those questions dont bring you an answer, then ask spirit for a sign, a dream, a name, something that will help you realize who is trying to make their presence known to you. I'd offer the following to your Divine guardians, "I do wish to know who is trying to get my attention but the smell alone is not enough. Please give me another sign or insight in a dream. I am open and allowing of this so long as it comes to me in love. Thank you."
Response: No, those who commit suicide are NOT earthbound till some sort of 'natural death time' arrives. That's 100% myth. It is true however, that those who experience violent or sudden death (at their own hand or not) may be more likely not to cross over right away. If for you think that a soul has not transitioned Home, then please spend time encouraging that person to move on. Even if you feel silly, just talk to him/her and tell them they need to go to the Light, that they need to move on. Assure them that no one is denied going Home for any reason so he/she can go and will be welcomed with unconditional love and healing. Feel, truly FEEL, the love you have for that person and offer it to them as a gift to take with them on their journey Home. If you feel he/she doesn't want to leave you, give clear permission, let him/her know you will be fine and will be better knowing they've gone to the Light. You can even go so far as to say that you want to feel their presence and have signs from them but ONLY after they've moved thru the Light and gone Home. What you dont want to do is encourage an attachment, you want to encourage their natural ascension into the realms of Spirit.
 Response: Yes, yes, yes! He can hear your words whether they're spoken aloud to him or they're spoken to him in your thoughts. Inside you, in that place where your deepest beliefs are held is the answer to your second question, "How can I know if he hears me?" You'd probably not be talking to him or asking the question if you didn't already believe that he hears you. That said, my guess is that what you really want to ask is, "Is there a way to prove that he hears in me?" Most of us want that proof but think that it's somehow sacrilegious, distrusting, disrespectful, or just wrong to ask for it. Rest easy because there's nothing at all wrong with wanting confirmation of some kind and believe me, your father will be happy to oblige! The next time you're having a chat with him ask him to give you a sign of some kind that he's hearing you. If you want, be specific about what you're asking for, or you can leave it up to him. If you ask, he will give you the confirmation you desire. It may not happen in that moment, or it may! but it will come to you. Chances are he's been giving you signs all along and you've either missed them or been skeptical. Trust in your heart. And Amber don't ever think he tires of hearing you speak to him! Those in spirit LOVE to know we think of them and talk to them because it lets them know that we know they still exist. And they do! 
Response: Yes. As we leave the physical plane we transition into the spiritual plane through "the light". This light is the Light of Pure/Source Energy and Consciousness. It attracts us to it because we know it (unconsciously) as our very essence. Those who have described this light to me describe it as being connected directly to their hearts, even greater than the strongest love they could ever imagine, and as an all embracing, divinely benevolent manifestation. They use words like healing, loving, overwhelming, and "suddenly reassuring." Many scientific minds assert that the light phenomenon of near death experiences (NDE) is the result of processes occurring in the brain as it dies. But there is now documentation that supports ND experiencers seeing the light AFTER the brain has died. Dr. Michael Sabom, a cardiologist, has written a book titled, Light and Death, and in it are the results and analysis of his study of NDE. Of particular note is the case of Pam Reynolds. Ms. Reynolds was undergoing a brain surgery that could only take place if she were clinically dead. All of her vitals were stopped and the blood was drained from her head. She was, as he describes it, "put to death." It was while IN this flat lined death state that Pam experienced (among other things) moving into a tunnel and seeing the light. She stated, "The light was incredibly bright. Like sitting in the middle of a light bulb." The following is an exerpt from a session I had with a client. This was a past life reading in which I relayed to her a transition into the light as it was shown to me. Please note that this is just one soul's experience, every transition is unique and different in it's details, but Light is always the medium and vehicle for our return. It has it's roots in Judaism (so that it won't accidentally be taken in vain or defiled) but it resonates with me for a different reason. The dash symbolizes the unknowable, all-and-nothing nature of G-D -- that nature which can never be fully expressed by such inadequate a thing as a word. "G-D" is my way of using language while leaving the ineffable nature firmly centered within the word.
